Wildcat on the Ridge
00:46
|
|

Look out!
Look out!
The cat is on the prowl
When you hear a screech better hope it is an owl
Today
You pray
You don't become its prey
The wildcat is on the ridge and death is on the way
Claws
Like Knives
A solitary beast
Mountain lion on the ridge ready for a feast
Guard
Your throat
It ate the neighbors' goat
You had better stay inside or that is all she wrote
Wildcat on the Ridge
Wildcat on the Ridge
Wildcat on the Ridge
Up in Lightner Creek
Wildcat on the Ridge
Wildcat on the Ridge
Wildcat on the Ridge
Up in Lightner Creek

Lightner Creek -- my true love
Lightner Creek, I say
Lightner Creek -- my true love
I'm coming home today
Wish I was up Lightner Creek
Drunk as I could be
With my arms around my true love
And a banjo on my knee
Lightner Creek -- my true love
Lightner Creek, I say
Lightner Creek -- my true love
I'm coming home today
It's peaches in the summertime
Apples in the fall
If I can't have the girl I love
I don't want none at all
Lightner Creek -- my true love
Lightner Creek, I say
Lightner Creek -- my true love
I'm coming home today
Wish I had a big fine horse
And corn to feed him on
A cabin up on Lightner Creek
And one in the San Juans
Lightner Creek -- my true love
Lightner Creek, I say
Lightner Creek -- my true love
I'm coming home today
When I was a little boy
I wanted a Barlow knife
Now I want my true love
To say she'll be my wife
Lightner Creek -- my true love
Lightner Creek, I say
Lightner Creek -- my true love
I'm coming home today
Lightner Creek -- my true love
Lightner Creek, I say
Lightner Creek -- my true love
I'm coming home today

Donkey Riding
02:09

|

Were you ever at the Bowls?
Wearing shoes with rubber soles
Where there's a chance you'll score some trolls
Riding on a donkey
Hey ho away we go
Donkey riding
Donkey riding
Hey ho away we go
Riding on a donkey
Were you ever at Clancy's house?
Chasing peacocks riding cows
Drink a little wine and start to drowse
Riding on a donkey
Hey ho away we go
Donkey riding
Donkey riding
Hey ho away we go
Riding on a donkey
Were you ever on Sharkstooth Trail?
Gulping water like it's ale
A black cloud forms and down comes hail
Riding on a donkey
Hey ho away we go
Donkey riding
Donkey riding
Hey ho away we go
Riding on a donkey

As snow fell on the streets, I lay underneath my sheets
There was not a star to 'luminate the sky
I was dreaming I suppose, for my eyes were nearly closed
When a very strange procession passed me by
First there came a bighorn sheep, through my window he did leap
A whitetail ran beside him as his mate
They were traveling might fast, but the shouted as they passed
"You've got the wildest cabin in the state!"
The magpie and the jay, they flew in from Santa Fe
to amuse the company with their stellar song
And dear old Mr. Moose played the tune upon his flute
While a couple black bear cubs sang along
Then the marmot and the crow told us tales of long ago
And the sagebrush lizard listened with a smile
And the coyote walking by, with a twinkle in his eye
Said, "Friend, I think I'm gonna stay a while"
Some frogs and speckled toads landed right in my abode
They came bouncing in from McPhee Reservoir
With grins on all their faces, they unlatched their little cases
That held the mandolin, the banjo, and guitar
Then the bobcat and the lynx grabbed the housecat Grandpaw Binx
And danced around the room to "Wolf Creek Pass"
In the shadow of a pine, the little burro twirled in time
While the pica whistled "Journey Through the Past"
From my faucet out the spout, came some shining rainbow trout
They line danced to a country western beat
Then an elk, strong and tall, let sound her mighty call
And bugled out "Bonaparte's Retreat"
I was dreaming I suppose, of these entertaining shows
But it never crossed my mind I had a-drowsed
Till my phone began to ring, and my boss's voice did scream
"Get the hell up you old fool, there's road to plow!"

Blood on the Saddle
03:08
|
|

There was blood on the saddle and blood all around
And a great big puddle of blood on the ground
A cowboy lay in it all covered with gore
And he never will ride any broncos no more
Oh, pity the cowboy, all bloody and red
For the bronco fell on him and bashed in his head
There was blood on the saddle and blood all around
And a great big puddle of blood on the ground

When the moon is shining yellow
And a girlie with her fellow
Both are getting nice and mellow
In the bright moonlight
Then the lightman will discover
Sweethearts keeping under cover
Soon he hears that girl and lover
Say to him, "Put out that light."
Turn off your light, Mister Moon Man
Go and hide your face behind a cloud;
Can't you see that we want to spoon, Man
Two is company and three's a crowd
I'll take my lady to a shady -
place where I can hug my baby
And we'll say to you "Good night, Good night!"
We want to tease and squeeze
If you please
Mister Moon Man, turn off the light
All you lads and little misses
Like to have your hugs and kisses
But remember half the bliss is
When it's dark as it can be
If once more I start my pleading
Tell him darkness we are needing
In case my pleading he is heeding
You must do the same as we
Turn off your light, Mister Moon Man
Go and hide your face behind a cloud;
Can't you see that we want to spoon, Man
Two is company and three's a crowd
I'll take my lady to a shady -
place where I can hug my baby
And we'll say to you "Good night, Good night!"
We want to tease and squeeze
If you please
Mister Moon Man, turn off the light
