Sharktooth Beach
01:52
|
|||
Drive north from Santa Cruz
Look for the Bonny Doon
Cross over the old train tracks, and
Don’t be afraid climbing down the packed sand
Our friends will all be there
We haven’t seen your face in years
We’ll have a party under the moonlight
Casting shadows in a cove on a cool night
Poison oak couldn’t keep these lads away
Noise and smoke on a summer Saturday
Sharktooth Beach is waiting for you that-away
The party starts when you arrive
Sneak off and explore the cave
Hear distant crashing waves
Before the tide can come and drown us
We’ll smoke the weed that I could scrounge up
Moon Dog and Sally Field
Know exactly how it feels
Every minute we spend together
Is a minute I will always treasure
Poison oak couldn’t keep these lads away
Noise and smoke on a summer Saturday
Sharktooth Beach is waiting for you that-away
The party starts when you arrive

Giant Dipper at Night
02:46
|
|||
Do you wanna come with me
On a roller coaster ride above the beach?
The sun has set on Santa Cruz
We’re drinking Joose
See the people on the ground
Getting smaller as we’re going up and down
Make a wish on a falling star
In the coaster car
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Moon beaming above us so bright
Giant dipper at night
When the ride comes to a stop
You’ll find yourself walking down
That old boardwalk
Neon lights reflected on the bay
You’ll wanna stay
Do you ever wanna cry
When you think how time just passes by
Do you wish the coaster ran all night
That’d be tight
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Moon beaming above us so bright
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Moon beaming above us so bright
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Moon beaming above us so bright
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Giant dipper at night
Moon beaming above us so bright
Giant dipper at night

Lincoln City
03:35
|
|||
you've been working nights at the Bear Paw Inn
and I'm stuck downtown all day
we only see each other in the middle of the night
I think it's time we got away
let's drive out to the coast
find a place with a pool
order pizza
get a bottle of champagne
and watch the sunset from our seaside room
lincoln city, here we come
we'll walk the beach where we fell in love
finding things to do we've never done
lincoln city, ahí vamos
we'll ask the neighbors to check on goosie the cat
you'll tell your boss to go to hell
we'll check out the tidepools
maybe find a hermit crab
watch MAD TV in our motel
let's drive out to the coast
find a place with a pool
order pizza
get a bottle of champagne
and watch the sunset from our seaside room
lincoln city, here we come
we'll walk the streets where we fell in love
finding things to do we've never done
lincoln city, ahí vamos
when we're back at our apartment
on lincoln st. and grand
we'll shake our shoes and say "so long"
to lincoln city sand
lincoln city, here we come
we'll walk the beach where we fell in love
finding things to do we've never done
lincoln city, ahí vamos

Sam Wo
02:43
|

Riding on the train
Under San Francisco Bay
Hiding from the rain
While the night casts out the day
Red Bull in my can
Feeling like I’m on cocaine
I’m a hungry man
gotta get some shrimp lo mein
On Washington and Grant
We met below the sign
The place was full of diners
So we stood in line
There was a time
It seems so long ago
We would meet in chinatown
For dinner at sam wo
The city shut it down
Said it was full of rats
But I see it’s back again
I guess they got a cat
Riding on the train
Trying hard to stay awake
Being entertained
By thoughts of outer space
Martian Chronicles
For a pillow as I ride
waking up in Berkeley
with ET by my side
On Adeline and Ashby
I was back from where I came
And I’d love to go back there
But I know it’s not the same

Bottomless Pit
03:33
|
|||
It was the summer solstice
Near Manastash Ridge
The Mariners were on the TV
And Rainier was in the fridge
I heard a sound like thunder
I saw a blinding light
I got into my old truck
And I drove into the night
I drove on fire highways
I crossed the talus fields
I saw a ship above me
And I knew my fate was sealed
I watched them from a distance
Throwing trash in the hole
Interstellar garbage
With an acid gree-een glow
Tons and tons of garbage
Dropped in the yawning pit
Space detritus falling
But I never heard it hit
It was then they saw me
They sensed my human soul
They hit me with a beam of light
And threw me into that bottomless hole
ALIEN LANDFILL
THAT’S WHAT THIS EARTH IS
ALIEN LANDFILL
PRETTY MUCH WORTHLESS
I’LL SEE YOU IN THE BOTTOMLESS PIT!

Coin-Op Dioramas

Mr Money Mustache
At the Main Mall
With the coin op dioramas
We snuck into the show
They kicked us out
Now we’re home in our pajamas
Nobody can
Nobody can
Nobody can
Find the clubhouse
Nobody can
Nobody can
Nobody can
Leave the drug house
We’ve got debts and some unpaid bills
Nobody can’t say you’re chill
(My) dad met Louis L’Amour
in ’66
When he was living at the Strater
(I) saw K’reem Abdul-Jabbar
eating shaved ice
He was wearing Aviators
Nobody can
Nobody can
Nobody can
Find the log house
Nobody can
Nobody can
Nobody can
Leave the dog house
We’ve got debts and some unpaid bills
Nobody can’t say you’re chill

Voices From Another Time
01:48
|
|||
Julia lived in a sleeper car
Loved a man who was covered in scars
He got killed outside a bar
So she took her life
Now she walks the railroad tracks
Looking for her brakeman Max
Dressed in white with a voice that cracks
She cries out from the past
Voices from Another Time
Voices from Another Time
Voices from Another Time
Voices from a
‘nother time!
Hank lived alone near Cedar Hill
Sold the skins from what he’d kill
Left for town to make a deal
When he lost his life
Snowfall caught Hank by surprise
He lost his mule and his supplies
Screamed as he fell to his demise
You can hear him to this day
Voices from Another Time
Voices from Another Time
Voices from Another Time
Voices from a
‘nother time!
In Durango
On the Railroad
In the Desert

Junior Rat
02:12
|
|||
there's a tunnel underneath the street
don't go down there unless you want to meet a freak
his mother is a rat and his father is batman
there's sightings every week
his diet is drugs and cigarettes
he loves to drive a '69 corvette
his tail is slimy, his paws are grimy
someone take him to the vet
junior rat -- crawlin' in his cave
you know the boy's all right
junior rat -- lookin' for a rave
he's gonna dance through the night
there's a tunnel underneath the street
if you like him you can toss him down a treat
pizza slices and smirnoff ices
are his favorite things to eat
he's got a fan club big as mickey mouse
that doesn't mean i'd let him in my house
the rat's on acid, i think he's rabid
he's really quite a louse
junior rat -- crawlin' in his cave
you know the boy's all right
junior rat -- lookin' for a rave
he's gonna dance through the night
let's get rat-ified
junior rat -- crawlin' in his cave
you know the boy's all right
junior rat -- lookin' for a rave
he's gonna dance through the night
junior rat -- crawlin' in his cave
you know the boy's all right
junior rat -- lookin' for a rave
he's gonna dance through the night
he's gonna dance through the night
he's gonna dance through the night
he's gonna dance through the night
he's gonna dance through the night

Too Far Out
02:51
|
|||
the santa anas are blowing
i walk down to the bay
look out on the horizon
and see a surfer floating away
ba ba ba
he's too far out
ba ba ba
he's too far out
ba ba ba
he's too far out
he was just too far out
on the beach in florida
they shot a rocket to space
it was supposed to go to the moon
but it kept floating away
ba ba ba
he's too far out
ba ba ba
he's too far out
ba ba ba
he's too far out
he was just too far out

The Ballad of Jake
03:02
|
|||
Jake was born in New Orleans
The son of a gator and a circuit judge
Left for dead in a swamp
And that would be the end
But Jake pulled himself out of the sludge
He was raised in a brothel on Bourbon St.
And the madam was overjoyed
Whenever a guest got out of hand
She’d feed him to the gator boy
But soon enough of course the cops found out
They tried to shake Jake down for a bribe
What happened next I won’t repeat
He just did what he could to survive
So Jake fled West like so many before
He was working on the Santa Monica Pier
In a sideshow run by a cruel drunk
Who’d try to pay the poor gator boy in beer
Jake got fed up, stole the bastard’s Bug
He drove the PCH up to the Bay
Found a steady job selling antique goods
And a place to crash in the Lower Haight
But rent was as steep as the SF Hills
And he walked around in a fog
Tough times got tougher
And he had to sell his bug
To a man from the Russian mob
At Golden Gate Park he met the mobster’s daughter
Her father had sent her to fetch the Bug
She liked his scales and his carefree charm
And the two of them fell in love
Our lovers made a run, fearing for their lives
Jake was back on Highway One
Driving north until the money ran out
Somewhere near Astoria in Oregon
An abandoned houseboat on the Columbia
Jake and Nadia made their life
But it’s not so easy to keep the profile low
Living as a gator and his common-law wife
Jake was picking berries on a rural road
finally felt a relative sense of freedom
never felt the shot that took him by surprise
The mobsters sold his body to a local museum
Our story might not have a happy ending
Let us call it bittersweet if we can
Fans flock to Long Beach Washington
to glimpse the world famous Gator Man
